Fire Detection: Aspirating Systems
Aspirating systems have been around for a number of years and have the advantage of using a remote detection system which is many times more sensitive than a standard point detector. Air is pulled along a pipe through sampling points along the length of the pipe and into a chamber where the detector is able to give much earlier warning than would be the case with typical point detection. As well as maintenance advantages due to the remote situation of the detector, there is an aesthetic gain in that the air sampling holes make much less impact visually. Aspirating detection can be used as a part of a fire detection arrangement for specific areas and interfaced with the Fire Alarm Control Panel, increasing versatility or meeting the needs of special situations.
